A Message from the Mayor

We fully understand this is a difficult and stressful time for many in our community, and particularly for all of our local businesses.

The outbreak of COVID-19 (coronavirus) is causing economic disruption in many sectors across Mitchell Shire. Businesses are already hurting, and we know things are only going to get tougher.  However, we want you to be assured that during the COVID-19 pandemic, Mitchell Shire Council is here to support our business community in any way we can.

Right now, we are looking at ways in which we can support our business sector, and how we can shift our focus to provide a more concentrated support for you.

We have extra measures in place so our service provision here at Council can continue, but we are mindful of limiting direct contact as much as possible.  Operational services can be accessed by telephone or online and we would encourage you to do that wherever possible, if and when you need our assistance.

And while we’re facing our own challenges, we are very mindful that this is having an enormous impact across our business sector.   But the great thing about our Shire that we hear time and time again is how well we look out for each other.  We need to continue to do this in the weeks and months ahead.

We will continue to work with local businesses, trader groups and chambers to identify the best ways we can help businesses through this time and, eventually, into recovery.

Thank you and keep safe.

Mitchell Shire Mayor Councillor David Lowe
