Regional Food Businesses Online Offering Support

To: Claire Hahnel, Mitchell Shire Council

Victorian Government has announced initiatives that will assist regional businesses, including food and beverage producers, farmers, hospitality and retail businesses to expand their customer base online and build business resilience and skills.

The Click For Vic is a new campaign to connect Victorians with local producers, creators and businesses across the state. By Clicking for Vic, Victorians will be connected to online offerings including the Victorian Country Market.

The Victorian Country Market is a digital version of your favourite country market. The program is an avenue to connect farmers, hospitality and retail businesses with consumers via an online portal. You can create your own stall next to some of the state’s finest local producers and sell direct to consumers across the state. Your costs are covering for the first 12 months listed and shipping costs during the initial 3 months of operation.  For any other queries, please refer to the FAQs, including the registration process.

Alongside the Click for Vic initiative, Agriculture Victoria announced a $1.5 million E-commerce and New Marketplace Transition Package to help the agriculture sector through the coronavirus pandemic and beyond.  Through this package, farm-gate producers selling Victorian agricultural goods and produce will be able to apply to the State Government for grants to help pay the costs of:

  • onboarding, online marketing and registration fees
  • freight and logistics
  • delivery fees, and
  • online marketing support.
