Laverton Community Education Centre is a Learn Local Registered Training Organisation, delivering Certificate III qualifications in Individual Support in Laverton and Seabrook. Small class sizes and highly qualified and experienced teachers understand the need for students to be job-ready before commencing a practical placement so that they add to the capability of any organisation.

Effective sanitisation will reduce the levels of bacteria in your food establishment. This in turn will decrease the risk of contamination and food poisoning occurrences. Equipment and utensils that come into contact with food must be sanitised, this may include contact surfaces, work benches, cleaning cloths, crockery, utensils, chopping boards, just to name a few.

In 2019 Council's Public Health unit distributed measuring spoons and sanitation information to registered food businesses in Hobsons Bay to promote and encourage compliance.

If you didn't get your complimentary spoons, or would like further information, please contact the Public Health unit on 9932 1504 or email Publichealth@hobsonsbay.vic.gov.au.

The Australian Taxation Office (ATO) is encouraging businesses to register for the new myGovID.

The reminder comes with the ATO and 26 other government agencies discontinuing the use of the decade-old AUSkey and Manage ABNConnection login credentials by 27 March of this year. By this date existing users of the ATO’s Business Portal and a range of other government online services will need to set up and use the new system.

Don't throw your profits into landfill

The average business throws away more than 100 kilograms of wasted food every week, over half of which could have been prevented. It's not just a waste of good food and lost profits, it also wastes natural resources and piles up in landfill.

Love Food Hate Waste is a free short program to assist hospitality venues to:

  • track food waste to see where it is really occurring
  • identify and take actions to prevent waste before it happens
  • measure and share success with staff and customers
