Council has teamed up with Grant Guru to deliver a free one-stop-shop website for local businesses and community groups. The website provides access to available grants, filtered by specifying location, industry and type of project. The set-and-forget feature means applicants will be notified of new grants and never miss a deadline. Start searching now on the Hobsons Bay Business website.

Category finalists for the 2019 Hobsons Bay Business Excellence Awards have been announced. Council congratulates them and thanks all entrants on their outstanding submissions. Winners will be announced at the gala event on 25 October, get your tickets now.

A new network has been launched to support the growing social enterprise sector. The Social Enterprise Network will connect the social enterprise community in metro and regional Victoria.

The Victorian Government has provided $1.47 million towards the establishment of the network which will be delivered in partnership with CERES, Australian Centre for Rural Entrepreneurship and Social Traders.

As identified in the Social Enterprise Strategy in 2017, the Victorian Social Enterprise Network will work to achieve an inclusive and sustainable society by supporting a thriving social enterprise sector.

Hobsons Bay City Council is supporting Ride2Work Day on Wednesday 16 October 2019. This event encourages everyday Aussies to jump on their bike and get active on their way to work. We invite all local businesses and trader groups to get involved.

A healthy breakfast and raffle draw will be held at Logan Reserve in Altona from 8-9am to celebrate. The event will be attended by Mayor of Hobsons Bay, Councillor Jonathon Marsden.

Australian Retail Association (ARA) members in the state of Victoria are reminded that a ban on single-use plastic bags of less than 35 microns in thickness comes into effect on 1 November 2019. Retailers are able to download and print a poster for display on their premises here.

Council invites residents, community groups, sporting associations, businesses and organisations to make submissions recommending specific ideas for capital works or community programs/projects to be funded in the 2020-21 Budget.
